Festival Address and Directions

MS DOCKVILLLE FESTIVAL ADRESSE:

Reiherstieg Hauptdeich / Ecke Alte Schleuse
21107 Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg

By Metro (S-Bahn) & Shuttle Bus:

Ride the Metro to the station S-Veddel (8 minutes from the central station (Hauptbahnhof) on the lines S 3 and S 31). The MS Dockville shuttle bus departs from Veddel every 20 minutes, and will take you directly to Dockville.

The shuttle busses travel back and forth between the Metro station S-Veddel and the Dockville festival grounds. Bus tickets cost 2 Euros a day.

There will be free shuttle buses from the festival site to VEDDEL on Monday from 7.00 am till 2.00 pm.

By Taxi:

Ever taken a taxi to a festival?
From Hamburg's central train station, a one-way taxi ride straight to MS Dockville costs € 18,-. It's cheapest to quickly find your way into a group of four people. Then, just jump in the taxi, tell the driver „Take us to MS Dockville, please“ and in just 15 minutes, you'll be right at the entrance. Quick and easy!

Or, you can take a taxi from the Metro station S-Wilhelmsburg. From there, you'll only pay 8€ for a ride to Dockville. It may take you longer to find a taxi, however.

By city bus, from the Metro station Veddel:
Take Bus 13, last station Wilhelmsburg.
Get out at the station Veringstraße
Take a left into the Neuhöfer Straße
After 600 meters, take another left into the street Reiherstieg Hauptdeich.
After another 300 meters, you will find Dockville.

By car:

We don't recommend it – but if there's no other way, drive to the Metro station S-Veddel. You can park in the Park & Ride parking garage and catch the MS Dockville shuttle bus to the festival grounds.

You can also offer a ride-share, or look for one, in our online forum:[link]

General Information: The Festival Grounds

Opening Hours

The festival grounds will open two hours before the start of the musical program on each of the three festival days.

Festival Bracelets

To ensure that you can enter the festival grounds and the campground whenever you like, you will trade in your valid ticket for a festival bracelet and a stamp.

Keep It Outside!

Audio and video recordings are not allowed on the festival grounds. We will prosecute any attempts to make recordings.
In addition, please do not bring glass containers, glass bottles, or metal cans and canisters onto the festival grounds.
Food and drink are forbidden on the festival grounds.
Drinking water will, of course, be available.

Entering the Festival Grounds

Each time you enter the festival grounds, our security guards will ask you to show us your festival bracelet. So it's especially important that you keep it with you – if you lose it, we will be unable to replace it.
Additionally, we will check you and any bags or purses to make sure you have no weapons or any type of hard container on your person.

Our Northerly Weather

Expect everything, assume nothing! After all, MS Dockville takes place in chilly, unpredictable Northern Germany. Along with your sun hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, it could be more important than you think to bring along a rain jacket, some warm sweaters and cozy socks.

Garbage

One byproduct of any festival is plenty of garbage. But nobody wants to leave the festival grounds looking like a battlefield – or pay for the cost of cleaning up after careless litterers. Please be sure to throw your trash into the proper garbage cans.

Animals

Dogs, cats, mice, rats and your guinea pig, too – none of them belong in our campground, and you are not allowed to bring them along. Please spare your four-legged friends the noise and the stress, and leave them at home.
Security
Police officers and security guards will be on hand to help us out. They will keep an eye on any type of criminal goings-on in the campground and on the festival grounds. Unfortunately, despite their best efforts, a few thieves always manage to take advantage of our festival. Here are a few tips to keep firmly in mind:

– Don't leave your valuables in your car. (We have lockers available!)
– Be sure to lock your car.
– Don't leave your valuables laying in your tent when you are away.
– If you absolutely can't do without something, leave it at home.
– Keep an eye on one another and on one another's things.
– It's practical to label your tent and other things with your name and address.
– When you go to sleep, don't leave all of your valuables in one place.
– During the day, keep your money in a different pocket than your cell phone.
– If you need any kind of medicine, keep it with you at all times.

If something of yours goes missing despite your best efforts, see if it's at the lost and found first. If you are sure it's been stolen, contact the police.

Drugs

Drugs aren't allowed. Yes, they're illegal – but more than that, we don't like them. If you can't do without, go do drugs somewhere else. Our festival will blow your mind without any chemical or botanical enhancement.

Liability

Every festival guest is liable for the consequences of his/her actions.
All provisions of the Protection of Young Persons Act apply.
Please be careful to keep your festival bracelets and your garbage deposit chips. There will be no replacement of festival bracelets and/or garbage deposit chips.

General Information: Camping

Campground Opening Hours

You can set up your tent on the large meadow beside the festival grounds starting on Friday at noon.

The 10 € fee for camping and the 5 € garbage deposit are either already included in your ticket price (in this case, „inklusive Camping“ is printed on the ticket), or you can pay at the main desk when you arrive. Of course, this will involve waiting in line... Use of our showers as well as the deluxe WCs  is also included in the campground fee.
The campground will close at noon on Monday. At this time, the front desk where you can collect your garbage deposit will close as well. Remember: you will only get your 5 € back if you turn in your garbage deposit chip AND a full garbage bag.
Cars (as in, anything that has a motor) are not allowed in the campground.

Shower Area

In the campground, you'll find a shower area with everything you could possibly need. The use of the shower area is included in the campground fee. Also included: actual ceramic toilets!

FREIHANDELSZONE

What we are looking for in our 'free-trade-area' (Freihandelszone): Art, made by hand. Unique items, designed for just one single person. Tailor-made products sewn at home on mom's sewing machine. Shirts and bags, printed with a single-armed screen printing machine financed with the saved pocket money. Silhouettes, cut after the work as an office clerk. Comics, drawn in between lectures and examination, between spring fever and winter depression, or in passing. Stories, written between two poorly paid jobs as a freelance online journalist. Products, created with the goal of returning a bit of individuality into the equalized world of consumption.

The free-trade area brings together people, whose distribution channels are beyond shopping malls or department store chains and whose gainings rarely lay above the three-digit numbers. Small private labels and young designers offer their favorite items for sale during the festival Dockville.

If you want to have your creativity shown at our festival, then please let us know!

Everything You Need: Wilhelmsburg

Grocery Shopping

In Wilhelmsburg, you'll find everything you need for a perfect weekend.
Just leave the festival grounds, stay left, and once you get to the first traffic light, take a right. After about 500 meters, you'll reach the Veringstraße. There, you'll find plenty of shops, restaurants and cafés to suit any taste. For a quick overview of the shops in Wilhelsmburg, check out www.ig-reiherstieg.de.
The nearest supermarket (approx. 1200 meters away) is at the intersection of the Mengestraße and the Georg-Wilhelm-Straße. On foot, you'll get there fastest by taking a right onto Reiherstieg Hauptdeich (Wollkämmerei). Then, keep going straight until you reach the large intersection.
Another supermarket can be found in the street Am Veringhof. Just walk along Reiherstieg Hauptdeich, then take a right on Neuhöfer Straße. Keep to the left, then take your second left into the street Am Veringhof.

Banks/ATMs

There's an ATM right by the Lidl supermarket on the street Mengestraße. You can also find one on the corner of Mannesallee and Georg-Wilhelm-Straße.
The Postbank, the Volksbank and Deutsche Bank each have a branch in the Veringstraße, about half a kilometer away from the festival grounds. You can get to the Veringstraße by taking a left off of Reiherstieg Hauptdeich into Neuhöfer Straße and then taking the third street on the right.

Gas Station

The nearest gas station is on the corner of Mengestraße and Georg-Wilhelm-Straße.

Pharmacy

A pharmacy can also be found on the corner of Mengestraße and Georg-Wilhelm-Straße.

Access for our Guests with Disabilities

We strive to provide total access to every part of our festival grounds. However, please keep in mind that our festival takes place on an abandoned industrial zone, which has long been taken over by grass and trees. The ground is bumpy and uneven. We do our best to prepare the ground for you, our guests. In the past we've had good feedback from guests with disabilities.

Guests under 18

In general, we don't recommend bringing children under 8 years of age to the festival. A music festival involves many factors (noise, etc.) which are extremely stressful for small children.

Minors can attend the MS Dockville festival with the permission of their legal guardians. According to the laws set out in the „Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch“, parents have the right and the duty to care for their under-18 child. In legal terms, the parents are required to make decisions regarding travel to and from the festival, as well as their children's participation and presence at the festival. In addition, all legal provisions dealing with restrictions on the sale of alcoholic drinks to minors and the consumption of alcohol by minors, as well as the sale of tobacco products to minors and the use of tobacco products by minors, apply during the festival. If police officers catch underage children drinking, smoking or intoxicated, the children can be sent home.

We recommend that all guests under 18 keep a signed permission form with them during the festival.

Health and Safety Recommendations

General Recommendations

We intend for the MS Dockville festival to be one big, fantastic party without any unpleasant accidents. In order to keep it that way, we wish to give you a few recommendations that will help ensure your weekend stays safe and fun.
The festival grounds and the campground take place on uneven, bumpy terrain. Especially at night, it can be difficult to see bumps or holes in the ground. Be careful!
Our festival takes place in the dog days of summer. Don't forget that on long August days, the sun can be surprisingly intense. So, don't forget your sunscreen! To prevent heat stroke, which can make you miserable and also put your health in danger, keep a hat, bandanna or other head covering with you.

At MS Dockville, we party hard. Don't forget to pay close attention to your body while you're having fun. Summer temperatures and plenty of dancing mean that you'll need to stay hydrated by drinking more water than usual. Of course, there will be drinking water available on the festival grounds.

Alcoholic drinks should be enjoyed in moderation. All too often, it's easy to underestimate how much alcohol one has consumed. Please look out for yourself and your friends, and don't overdo it. Sloppy drunks are annoying for everyone, and so is puking.

Drugs are illegal, and we don't allow them. Using drugs can be dangerous – just don't do it.

Safer Sex: If the spirit moves you, protect yourselves! Condoms aren't just birth control, they also protect you from sexually transmitted infections.

Doctors and paramedics will be nearby to deal with any medical emergencies. If you're having trouble finding help, just ask a security guard!

Volume

Festivals are made for music lovers. But keep in mind that at times, the festival grounds can be extremely noisy. The volume of our speakers will be monitored continuously to protect your health; however, we still recommend that you protect your hearing by using earplugs. In a pinch, you can always use bits of paper tissues instead.

Also, make sure not to spend too much time hanging out directly in front of the speakers – that's where the noise will be most intense. Prolonged exposure can cause permanent hearing damage. So, protect your ears, and don't rock out in front of the speakers for too long.

Music is a lifelong joy, so be sure to protect your hearing. Earplugs aren't uncool – just the opposite, in fact.

ART: ADRESS and Directions

Festival and Artcamp address are of course the same:

Reiherstieg Hauptdeich / Alte Schleuse

21107 Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg

Your way with public transportation

You take the S3 or S31 until S-Bahnhof Veddel, then you take the bus line 13 S Wilhelmsburg/Kirchdorf Süd and stop at Veringstraße (Mitte), you turn right into the Neuhöfer Straße and after 600 metres you turn left into Reiherstieg Hauptdeich and continue next to the rails – after 600 metres you are there! Please notice: The festival shuttle doesn’t drive during the ArtCamp period.

Come by bike

But of course the most beautiful way is by bike through the Old Elbtunnel:  From the tunnel on you just follow the signs to Wilhelmsburg and  after the  toll crossing in the Klütjenfelder street you turn right into the Reiherstieg Hauptdeich and follow it until you reach our beautiful festival area!

Hotels

We've heard that there are people who travel to our festival from faraway places, and don't feel like camping...

If that's the case, beautiful Wilhelmsburg offers several hotels. You should be able to find one, whatever your budget. Many of them are a short walk away from MS Dockville – and the others are easy to get to using public transportation or our shuttle bus.
